Description

About Girl with Grit

Girl with Grit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering young women in the skilled trades and construction industries. Our mission is simple: to equip youth with the tools, training, and confidence they need to thrive.

Through hands-on workshops, we teach valuable life skills—whether for career development or everyday tasks—that help youth gain independence, leadership, and self-confidence.

Our Impact

– By 2024, over 18,000 youth have participated in our workshops across schools, nonprofits, and health services in less than 5 years officially in service.

– We’ve been recognized with multiple nominations for “Best Nonprofit” and received an Honorable Military Challenge Coin from Wounded Warriors.

– We’ve been included in multiple news stories, podcasts, and by influencers.

– We have had national workshops and keynote speaker engagements due to our impacts.

– Founded by a passionate educator and mental health professional with an interest in setting youth up for success in careers and life skills. Our multi-generational team consists of specialists in education, workforce, mental health, skilled trades, non-profit, nonpartisan policy, and social services, which  ensures a holistic approach to working with clients.

Why It Matters

– Encouraging Pathways: From teaching tools to marketing the skilled trades in a different light, Girl with Grit works to change narratives by providing the exposure and skills necessary for success.

– Building Confidence: Teaching youth to use tools is more than just career preparation—it’s about boosting confidence and fostering independence in all aspects of life.

– Real-Life Success: From helping develop independence (like learning how to use a drill to hang pictures) to inspiring the next generation of tradespeople, Girl with Grit is making a real difference.

Our Approach

– Hands-On Learning Workshops: Our workshops gives youth the opportunity to explore tools and gain experience in a supportive environment that encourages learning through trial and error. We teach practical handyperson skills that everyone needs.

– Leadership & Advocacy: Girl with Grit advocates for nonpartisan policies that promote educational, training and support for youth and women to end tge cycle of poverty through workforce training, development, and placement. We are actively involved in local, state, and national efforts, evenn serving as panelists for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Women in Apprenticeship.

– Community Engagement: We collaborate with local organizations to bring workshops into schools and communities, helping youth build lifelong skills while exploring careers in trades.
