The Retreat is a group home for young victims of sex trafficking. These girls are currently in a secure facility in Kendall County that Girl with Grit Program services. Programming is covered thanks to the fundraising efforts of youth in our community and generous donations. At-risk girls get everything from enrichment to valuable life skills. Additionally, they are part of our Entrepreneurs Program where they learn real life business skills and make money, which can be vital in their circumstances.
Over Christmas Girl was Grit Program was also able to throw them a Holiday Party bringing in functional and fun presents and teaching them their first cooking skill – cookies. The girls were handed down a recipe and had to make their cookies from scratch with less than 5 ingredients.
The more finding we get, the more we can work to intervene and reform these incredible young ladies that have already endured so much.
